Interior

Repainting an existing residence.

Most of what makes a repaint hold up happens before any colour is applied. Surfaces are washed and sanded, holes and cracks are filled and made good, split caulking is renewed, and everything remaining in the residence is covered and protected. The finish is only ever as good as the surface beneath it.

  • Walls, ceilings, vaulted and plank ceilings, and exposed beams
  • Trim, baseboard, casing and interior doors, sprayed rather than brushed
  • Board and batten, wainscot and full-height panelling
  • Feature walls, including geometric and hand-painted work
  • Kitchen and vanity cabinetry, painted or refinished in stain
  • Staircases, railings and spindles, including two-tone finishes
  • Wallcovering installation and removal, with wall make-good included
  • Basements, additions and whole-residence repaints
  • Colour and sheen consultation

Renovation

Finishing for remodelling projects.

On a renovation the finishing trade works alongside the trades rather than after them, often in a residence the owner is still living in. We coordinate directly with the renovation contractor or designer so finishing is sequenced against the cabinetry, flooring and millwork instead of being compressed into the final week.

  • Kitchen and bathroom renovations
  • Basement and addition finishing
  • Whole-residence renovations, occupied or vacant
  • Cabinetry refinishing in place
  • Applied panelling, board and batten and trim upgrades
  • Make-good and blending into existing finishes
  • Coordination with the renovation contractor's schedule

Decks and fences

Decks, fencing, pergolas and cedar, stained or painted.

Railings and porches

Porch ceilings, columns, railings and exterior millwork.

In an occupied residence

What to expect while we are there.

Protection first

Furniture is moved and covered, floors are protected and work areas are contained before anything is opened.

A clean site each evening

Tools and materials are put away and the residence is left liveable at the end of every day.

The same crew throughout

The same people from start to finish, so nobody is briefed twice on how you want your home treated.

Colour consultation

Guidance on colour and on the appropriate sheen for the surface and the traffic the room takes.

A written quotation

Scope, surfaces, coat counts and materials set out clearly before any work is booked.

A handover walk

We walk the completed work with you and make good anything raised before the project is closed.

Photographs

Colour, panelling and feature work.

Vaulted ceilings, board and batten, hand-cut geometric walls and painted murals. This is the part of a repaint that a photograph actually shows.

Common questions

Repainting and remodelling.

Do you take small projects, or only whole residences?

Both. A single room, a staircase, a set of kitchen cabinets or a complete residence are all work we take.

Can you match an existing colour?

Yes. We can match to an existing finish, and where the original colour code is available the match is exact.

Do you remove wallcoverings?

Yes, removal and installation both. Removal usually calls for wall make-good afterwards, and that is included in the quotation rather than added later.

Can you refinish kitchen cabinetry in place?

Yes, painted or refinished in stain, including gel stain applied over an existing finish.

Do you work alongside our renovation contractor?

Yes. Finishing is sequenced against the cabinetry, flooring and millwork schedule rather than compressed into the final week.
